Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, Rome

Dr Alessio Cortellini is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Assistant Professor at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma in Italy, following an earlier period as a clinical research fellow at Imperial College London. His clinical and research focus is immuno-oncology in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), spanning real-world outcomes of chemo-immunotherapy combinations, host-related determinants of response to immune checkpoint inhibitors, and the use of machine learning to model treatment efficacy from prospectively collected patient data.

A particular strand of his work examines immune-related adverse events (irAEs) as biomarkers of treatment response and prognosis in NSCLC patients receiving anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy. He received The Oncologist’s 2020 Young Investigator Award for his contributions to immuno-oncology research and serves on the IASLC Communications Committee. He has authored several hundred peer-reviewed publications in thoracic and immuno-oncology.
